Patient-Reported Outcomes After Multiligament Knee Injury

چکیده
Methods: At a single institution, 68 patients were identified over a 10-year period as having MCL intervention in the setting of MLKI. Of these patients, 34 (50%) were successfully contacted via telephone to collect Lysholm and International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) scores. A retrospective chart review of these subjects was also conducted to identify patient and surgical factors affecting PROs. Results: At a mean 6-year follow-up (range, 2-11 years), the mean Lysholm score was 77.4 ± 23.1 and mean IKDC score was 72.6 ± 23.6. Univariate analyses identified time to surgery (P 1⁄4 .005) and MCL reconstruction (P 1⁄4 .001) as risk factors for Lysholm score 75. Univariate analyses identified patient age (P 1⁄4 .049), time to surgery (P 1⁄4 .018), and MCL reconstruction (P 1⁄4 .004) as risk factors for IKDC score 75. On subsequent multivariate analysis, MCL reconstruction was found to be a predictor of Lysholm or IKDC score of 75.

Multiligament Knee Injuries in Older Adolescents: A 2-Year Minimum Follow-up Study
BACKGROUND Multiligament knee injuries cause significant functional impairment. Adults undergoing anatomic reconstruction of multiligament knee injuries have excellent outcomes postoperatively. However, less is known about the outcomes in adolescent patients following multiligament reconstruction. PURPOSE/HYPOTHESIS We aimed to assess patient outcomes and failure rates following unstaged mult...
متن کاملShort to Mid-term Outcomes of Single-stage Reconstruction of Multiligament Knee Injury
Background: Multiligament knee injury (MLKI) is a complex orthopedic injury leading to the tear of at least two ofthe major knee ligaments. However, there is no consensus on the optimal management of this debilitating condition.Regarding this, the present study was performed to evaluate the outcomes of single-stage multiligament reconstructionsurgery in patients with MLKI.<br ...
متن کاملApproach to Management of the Patient with the Multiligament-Injured Knee
Questions/purposes: The objectives of this study were (1) tTo offer an algorithm for management of the patient with a multiligamentous injury to the knee .(2) to describe the clinical and functional outcomes of a consecutive series of patients with multiligament knee injuries managed with this approach by a single surgeon (3) to present a novel surgical technique for the treatment of multiligam...
متن کاملDiagnosis and treatment of multiligament knee injury: state of the art
Multiligament knee injuries constitute a complex and challenging entity, not only because of the diagnosis and reconstruction procedure itself, but also because of the rehabilitation programme after the index procedure. A high level of suspicion and a comprehensive clinical and radiographic examination are required to identify all injured structures. Concomitant meniscal, chondral and nerve inj...
متن کاملEditorial Commentary: Is Medial-Side Repair Indicated in the Treatment of Multiligament Knee Injuries?
Multiligament knee injuries are heterogenous and demand individualized treatment. In addition to the complexity of the injury, factors such as the timing and type of surgery are also crucial to patient outcomes. In a case series, patients who underwent medial-side repair had inferior patient-reported outcomes compared with those who had medial reconstruction or lateral surgery. Interestingly, p...
متن کاملPatient Satisfaction Following Total Knee Arthroplasty: Comparison of Short-Term Results in Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis
Background: Due to the obvious differences in the natural course of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA),different functional outcomes might be expected after Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) in these distinct patients. Althoughseveral studies have reported the objective outcome of TKA in RA and OA patients, few studies have compared postoperativepatient-satisfaction levels. Methods: I...
